Marine Photography is a unique art. Although full pictures of boats can be beautiful, our newest artist, marine photographer Craig McAllister, hailing from San Francisco, does it a little differently. His stand-out images hone in on interesting details and in several instances, it may take a first time viewer, a few minutes to realize the photo is actually a boat in water.
"I've always gravitated toward photographs that border on the unconventional, reflecting my love of color and reflections. Primarily, I seek out unusual relationships between color and form in surprising settings, creating photos that look more like paintings. About six years ago, I started taking photos of boats in water, combining that love of colors and reflections. I spend a lot of time prowling around marinas throughout the world, seeking out magical combinations of color, line, shape and reflection to create these unusual images."
