Thinking of Alberto Giacometti,This work is based on a photo of Alberto Giacometti, (prolific Swiss artist), taken by Henri Cartier-Bresson, c.1964. The title is from Greek poet George Seferis', Logbook II, “Sometimes it has crossed my mind that the things I write here are nothing other than images that prisoners and sailors tattoo on their skin.” The quote is also written on the left of the painting.
This work is part of a series of various photos of artists, composers, poets, figures of singularity; personalities that stand out because of their creativity/creative genius.
Often my work involves the artists as well as quotations, figures from their entourage, their own work as a form of painting-collage that I use in my work. Fragments of existence that touches me or fires my imagination.
