This photo was taken in Auckland, NZ, at the amazing Westhaven Marina. I just loved the way the black and red colors of this boat reflected on the water, with the splash of the blue water adding just the offsetting color.
My Artist Statement:
“I have always gravitated toward photographs that border on the unconventional, reflecting my love of color and reflections. Primarily, I seek out unusual relationships between color and form in surprising settings, creating photos that look more like paintings. About six years ago, I started taking photos of boats in water, combining that love of colors and reflections. I spend a lot of time prowling around marinas throughout the world, seeking out magical combinations of color, line, shape and reflection to create these unusual images. In many cases, it might take a first time viewer a few minutes to realize that the photo is actually a boat in water.”
